New choir CD on the way!

APRIL 4: The Croydon choir has started recording its next CD. On Saturday, April 1,  a full choir contingent spent the afternoon in our regular recording studio – otherwise known as St Mark’s church in Purley – laying down nine tracks for our new CD, which will go on sale next year.

Conducted by our music director Richard Hoyle, we sang nine numbers from our current repertoire, including Schubert’s Serenade, the Copland arrangement of At the River, and Richard’s wonderful WW1 medley, Till the Boys Come Home. A second recording session will take place early in 2018.

The recording engineer, Martin Knight, is renowned for the high standards he sets, and his £50,000-worth of equipment demanded the best of the choir.   Choir members were delegated to respectfully request neighbouring wedding and children’s parties for a modicum of hush when songs were being recorded.

The CD will follow in a long sequence of successful recordings, which are offered for sale at all our concerts and at our Christmas charity performances. Sales of our recent Christmas CD continue to be brisk.
