Richard retires!

JANUARY 14 2018: After 27 years with the choir, Richard Hoyle is retiring as CMVC's music director. This dramatic news was first made public at our Croydon Welsh Christmas concert, and has now been formally announced.

Richard Hoyle, retiring after 27 years

Richard joined the choir as pianist in 1991 and became music director in 2000.  By the time he leaves in July, he will have conducted 186 concerts.

Richard and his civil partner Darren Wilkins are moving to Ascot, where Darren has taken up a new teaching post.  Darren's departure from the choir was reported last month.

Richard feels that 27 years with the choir is long enough for anyone, and can be justifiably proud of a tenure which has seen the choir double in size and push its standards and aspirations ever higher.

The choir committee has already embarked on the search for a successor, spreading the word via choir and music networks that this highly desirable vacancy will be available from September 2018.  It will also be advertising the position formally on a range of choral and music websites.
