New season ahead!

SEPTEMBER 1: The Croydon choir returns to action next week.  The choir resumes rehearsals at its Sandilands headquarters on September 7, in preparation for its first concert of the 2017-18 season, to be held at the United Reform Church in Banstead on Saturday September 23.

As well as featuring 16 pieces from the choir’s current repertoire, the concert will also bring two solo slots by choir tenor John Aitkenhead, accompanied by Andy Roth (guitar) and Lucy Roth (flute).

The choir’s new pianist, Felipe Rodrigues, will also be performing with the choir for the first time.  Felipe gets to meet his new colleagues at the September 7 rehearsal, when music director Richard Hoyle will take the choir through its paces by rehearsing the entire repertoire for the Banstead concert – and, as Richard jokes, enabling Felipe to “accustom himself to our unique idiosyncracies”.

Beyond that, the choir has another three concerts lined up before Christmas, and will also hard at work preparing for the second recording session for its impending new CD, which takes place on March 3 next year.
