Richard live!
Richard Hoyle, CMVC's musical director, took part in an hour-long interview about the choir on Brooklands internet Radio on Sunday February 19. Covering a wide range of subjects, Richard talked about the choir's history, its repertoire, its members and its 2012 schedule, culminating in the 400-voice mass choir concert at Fairfield Hall on June 2. He even invited his interviewer, Cliff van Tonder, to became a choir patron (van Tonder's answer was not entirely clear.)
Richard Hoyle, reaching 3000 internet listeners
Brooklands Radio, which broadcasts to North Surrey, has a loyal 3000-strong Sunday afternoon audience who would have heard the seven pieces Richard chose to represent the choir's eclectic repertoire. They were He Ain't Heavy, Lord's Prayer, Full Fathom Five, Love Could I Only Tell Thee, Ol' Man River, Bottle of Rum and Send in the Clowns. Richard was also asked to choose one further recording and he selected Percy Grainger's arrangement of Shenandoah, conducted by John Rutter, which he praised for its complex layering of sounds. Choir members who heard Richard's interview praised it as "fascinating" and "brilliant". We hope to provide a link to the full broadcast soon. |
