Richard Hoyle: 100 up

Croydon MVC musical director Richard Hoyle conducted his 100th concert for the choir at St John's, Eden Park, on Saturday, May 22.

Richard was warmly applauded by choir members at Eden Park ahead of the concert.  The choir was on top form and afterwards Richard said it had been an excellent concert with an enthusiastic audience.

"I  was conscious of how much had changed in the past ten years.  The choir has grown in size, scope and ambition in a way that none of us would have envisaged."

Richard became musical director ten years ago, following nine years as choir pianist.  His first concert as director was at St Luke's, Sevenoaks, on 8 July 2000. 

A highlight of the Eden Park concert was the first performance of Sit Down You're Rockin the Boat, with solo by Nick Hewitt.
