Fairfield tickets selling fast

Tickets for the Diamond Jubilee Concert on June 2, featuring 400-plus male voices, are now on sale.  The concert will be staged at Croydon's Fairfield Halls and is hosted by the Croydon choir, with ten guest choirs from across Britain swelling the chorus to 400 or more.

Tickets are available from the Fairfield Hall box office - 020 8688 9291,  www.fairfield.co.uk.  They are priced at £10 for the gallery, £15 for stalls and boxes.

There is already keen interest in the concert, which follows the triumphant mass choir concert, also hosted by Croydon MVC, at the Fairfield Halls in 2006.  Visiting choirs, who include the Greater Manchester Police MVC and St Stythians MVC from Cornwall, are practising hard at the concert repertoire, which ranges from haunting spirituals and ballads to show-stoppers such as Battle Hymn of the Republic. 

The audience, which could approach a sell-out, is encouraged to bring flags and banners to create a Last Night of the Proms atmosphere in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
